Little River Ala.

Hubby and I left early and headed for Fort Payne Alabama and the Little River State Park to see this lovely falls.
I walked out on the rocks and looked over the edge, I think it makes hubby nervous....I am not the most coordinated person but now that I have my new knee, I walk so much better!
The water was lovely. We put the top down on the bug bug and listened to movie music, trying to match the song with the movie.
The ranger said that the water has been really low but we had some rain this week so that helped. I want to go back next spring, after the rains. There are folks that kayak down this water, not me!
When we were in Fort Payne, I spied an antique shop in an old knitting mill. I wanted to get a little something to use at Thanksgiving. I found this McCoy divided relish plate. Won't my homemade cranberry sauce and olives look good in it! I got it for 5 dollars, my girls that know, did I get a good deal?

Made some cornbread for my dressing, will put it in the freezer. Found a great brine recipe on Pioneer Woman and we are getting our turkey from Greenlife/Whole Foods tomorrow, I will start that process on Tuesday. I plan to do a little each day so I can really enjoy Thanksgiving. Hubby helps me so much as does Jessica so we can have a great meal and then get ready for BLACK FRIDAY!

Dunlap Countryside

Riding down the road, taking pictures of whatever we see....

Stopping and really looking at things. When you take photos, you begin to look at things in a different way.

I'm on a kick....it has rained for two days and I know when it stops, the color will be gone.

I adore these fall colors and they are here for such a short time!

Life is Good

After a hard week in the classroom, it is wonderful to come home, get hubby, jump in the bug-bug with our cameras, and go and take fall photographs.

We live in such a picturesque place that we do not have to travel far to find photo opportunities.
It is wonderful to share a hobby with the one you love.
I am so glad that we have this time together, hope you have someone to share good times with, life is good.

How Stubborn is Rueben?

This weekend we went out to the lake house and of course we took Rueben. He loves to go out on the dock and wait for hubby to catch a fish and give it a lick ( I have posted about the fish-licking before).
It was too cold to fish but they went down to the water and Reuben preceded to go out onto the old dock, which sits on the bottom. Hubby couldn't reach him, we called and tried to bribe him, but no luck. Notice the stick in hubby's hand, not for switching dear, sweet Rueben, he was trying to snag his leash.
Finally hubby had to walk through the water to get our stubborn Schnauzer. We love our little Rueben but he can really be a pain in the butt!

Head of the Hooch

Saturday morning it was chilly, the first cold morning we have had. I have been waiting for the cold, so I was happy, until I felt the wind!
We went to photograph the Head of the Hooch, it is the 2nd largest rowing event in the the U.S. Over 9,000 rowers!

We went on both side of the river to take photos.
Chattanooga is the perfect location for this event. Plenty of downtown hotels, lots of great eateries, and many fantastic opportunities to view the races.
This is amazing!
Many of the teams, both high school and college, were women. When I was in school the only "girls sport" was half court basketball and volleyball. We sure have come a long way!
Double click on the bridge pic and you will see lots of spectators. I walked over to take a different kind of shot and saw our neighbors. I found out their daughter was rowing for GPS, a local private girls school.
I got a photo of them and I do believe she is looking up at me!
What a great day, what a wonderful event!

AVA Artists

Our daughter is a talented artist. She has one of her pieces at the AVA Gallery. She works with recycled items, wire, paper clay, and plaster. She uses lots of different mediums. She creates these amazing sculptures of people, animals and really anything you can think of! The piece at AVA is a rabbit mask inspired by the old Jimmy Stewart movie, Harvey. After looking at all the great art, we went to Good Dog, and had dogs....she even has a sculpture of a hot dog there!
She and hubby have a photo/sculpture display at Mojo Burrito in St. Elmo. I sure do know a lot of talented people.

I forgot to mention grand daughter Miss V who is a budding photographer. She has a great eye and takes wonderful photographs and she is only 10!

A Squirrel Eye View

We are never lacking for new and interesting places in which to find reflections. This delightful squirrel was snacking at my bird feeder. After loading the pictures on my computer, I looked into it's eye...lo and behold there was a reflection of the sky and my home. Does it get any crazier than this? I'll keep looking...
Peace and Blessings
...and thanks to James for providing this wonderful reflection photo meme, Weekend Reflections.
